The primary objective of bringing Wonderglow Light Trail to Darlington Hall was to transform the venue into a high-impact, seasonal visitor attraction that would drive footfall during the early spring period. The event aimed to position Darlington Hall as a destination for immersive, family-friendly experiences while appealing to a broad demographic including families, couples and groups of friends.
Additional objectives included:

By combining immersive design, strong thematic storytelling and targeted promotion, Wonderglow sought to deliver both commercial success and meaningful audience engagement for the venue.
Experience Design & Concept
Wonderglow light trail was crafted as an outdoor walk-through light trail that transported guests into the imaginative world of Wonderland. Each section of the trail featured atmospheric illuminations and sculptural installations representing iconic Wonderland elements: glowing keyhole entrances, animated characters, floating “Drink Me” bottles, glowing mushrooms, and interactive scenes such as the Mad Hatter’s tea party. Ambient soundscapes accompanied the route, deepening the sense of immersion.
Participants followed winding paths through themed zones, with each area designed to evoke curiosity, exploration and delight. The walk-through nature made the experience accessible to families, couples, and individuals alike, with pauses for photography and interaction built into the journey.

Catering & On-Site Offerings
To complement the immersive visuals, the event featured themed catering options on site throughout its run. Visitors could enjoy a selection of hot food and warm beverages, including hot chocolate and cakes, that aligned with the whimsical spirit of the trail and encouraged guests to linger and socialise during their visit.
Themed food stalls were strategically placed to enhance the overall atmosphere, while also providing practical refreshment stops along the trail. These offerings not only improved guest comfort but added another layer of engagement beyond the light installations themselves. The venue also themed their onsite restaurant to match the experience.
Marketing & Promotion
Promotion for the event was primarily driven through social media channels combined with direct visibility from the venue’s own communications. Content shared online showcased the magical nature of the light trail with visuals, announcements and audience engagement posts that built anticipation leading up to and throughout the event’s duration.
Social platforms allowed the team to connect directly with potential attendees, share user-generated content, and keep audiences informed about themed nights, ticket availability and catering options.
In addition, Darlington Hall amplified reach by promoting the event through its networks, leveraging existing audiences who were already interested in cultural and family-friendly experiences at the venue.
